CIRCLE Project Management

An appropriate and flexible Project Management structure is one of the central features for a successful project. Therefore CIRCLE links together in an appropriate administrative, financial, legal, contractual and ethical management framework all of the project components. To assure a credible and accountable management, a separate work package was created (WP1 Lead) which is exclusively dedicated to reach this goal.

The CIRCLE management is lean and efficient and aims at:

  • maintaining a high level communication between all partners
  • identifying and confirming the key responsibilities and contributions of all participants
  • guaranteeing successful integration of project tasks and work packages
  • monitoring the progress towards the project’s objectives and the provision of deliverables
  • reviewing the project’s performance and setting corrective actions where and when needed to guarantee successful outcomes
  • conducting a financial project monitoring to secure a proper handling of the Commission’s grant to the budget
  • promoting gender equality in the project

CIRCLE applies a simple matrix management approach, in that the work package leaders assure that all deliverables and milestones are achieved in time, whereas the coordinator is responsible for the overarching management tasks that are related to the entire project or multiple work packages. The CIRCLE bodies (e.g. Executive Board), which are the main pillars of the management, will facilitate and maintain the success of the project.
