The French Agency for Environment and Energy Management is a public institution of an industrial and commercial nature. It was created in 1991 through the merger of three pre-existing government agencies. ADEME is closely involved in the implementation of environmental and energy policies, and contributes to France’s compliance with international commitments. It also plays a role in sustainable development and the fight against climate change. Its mission is to reconcile economic and social development with environmental protection at both the local and global levels. More particularly, the Economics Department is financing research programs including impacts of and adaptation to climate change.
