Short name: PPS (BELSPO – Belgium Science Policy - or PPS Science Policy)
BELSPO manages an annual budget of about EUR 520 millions and pursue notably the following missions: The coordination of the science policy on federal, inter-federal and international levels; the development and analysis of R&D indicators; the preparation, execution and evaluation of multi-annual topic-specific research programmes, actions and networks in response to problems linked to the policies of public authorities (such as social cohesion, sustainable development and information society); the management of Belgian participation in programmes and activities of the European Space Agency and other international organizations. BELSPO also supervises ten federal scientific institutes among which the Royal Meteorological Institute of Belgium.
