The project management agency supports the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) in fostering national and international research and development projects. Core tasks of the project management agency include the preparation and implementation of funding measures and the technical and administrative monitoring of funded projects. Furthermore, DLR-PT supports the ministry in strategic program development and the coordination of international cooperation.
The emphasis of the department for environmental research and technology is on the implementation of the German National Sustainability Strategy and the environmental aspects of sustainable development. Funding measures are realized in cooperation with several divisions of the BMBF and cover issues of global change, sustainability policy, environmental law, sustainable production and consumption, as well as sustainable economics within various industrial sectors.
PT-DLR-UF is the National Contact Point for the European Union’s Sixth Framework Program (FP6) for issues of climate, biodiversity and prediction/modelling/monitoring of the FP6 priority subject “Global Change and Ecosystems”. It also hosts the German IPCC coordination office.
