In Israel several research projects have already been initiated, under way, or completed, regarding impacts of climate change. The Israel Ministry of the Environment is currently examining ways to further broaden research into impacts of and adaptation to climate change. The Israel Ministry of the Environment is responsible for formulating the national environmental policy, standards and enforcement.
Israel has ratified the Kyoto protocol (2004), and the Environment ministry has started an active program for emission reduction from industry and other sources. It maintains an extensive network of working relations with international bodies (e.g. UNEP) and European environmental agencies.
