Mariolopoulos-Kanaginis Foundation

The establishment of the Mariolopoulos-Kanaginis Foundation for the Environmental Sciences has received legal approval by the government of Greece in 1993. The Foundation cooperates with both domestic and international agencies, research Centers and Institutions in order to achieve the following objectives:
- developing environmental sciences through studies of past and present interaction of man and the environment. The ultimate goal of these studies is to obtain a scientific perspective for viewing anticipated changes in man’s interaction with the environment. It is sponsoring scientific meetings, lectureships and performing research in the environmental field;
- protecting environment and humanity’s cultural heritage.
- moreover a programme of awards has been established to recognize outstanding contributions by professionals towards the advancement of the environmental sciences. Additional awards pogrammes for international cooperation are being prepared.
