Short name: UKCIP

The UK Climate Impacts Programme (UKCIP) is a boundary organisation that helps decision makers in the UK assess how they might be affected by climate change, and helps them adapt to those impacts. UKCIP is funded by the Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (Defra) and based at the University of Oxford. Since its start in 1997, UKCIP has grown rapidly, producing cutting-edge tools for climate adaptation, and managing a programme of world-class impacts and adaptation research.  UKCIP works with stakeholders to help them undertake research on climate impacts. This means that our stakeholders commission the research and determine the research agenda, ensuring that it meets their needs. UKCIP also provides support and guidance throughout the adaptation process to decision-makers in government, other public sector organisations and business. Tools include climate and socio-economic scenarios and methodologies for managing risk, costing impacts and undertaking adaptation.
