Budapest, Hungary

June 17th - 18th 2009

[NEWS] Outcomes NAS workshop

The outcomes of the successful workshop on NAS in Budapest are already available.

The ERA-Net CIRCLE aims at providing a platform for knowledge exchange in the field of Climate Change Impacts, Adaptation and Vulnerability (CCIAV).The CIRCLE workshop is free of charge, a remuneration of travel expenses is subject to the CIRCLE refunding rules.

This workshop will offer space for different participants working on National Adaptation Strategies within Europe, to discuss processes for adaptation strategies, action plans and involvement of stakeholders.

The workshop aims at:

  • discussing the recent progress in developing National Adaptation Strategies (NAS), focusing on eight European Union Member States (Finland, Spain, France, Denmark, Netherlands, United Kingdom, Germany, Hungary);
  • presenting the experiences of countries to develop adaptation strategies in terms of strengths and weaknesses, opportunities and threats;
  • exploring the possibilities to increase collaboration between countries in strengthening their efforts to develop adaptation policy at the national level.

The results of the PEER study “Europe adapts to climate change: Comparing National Adaptation Strategies” will serve as the basis for presentations about adaptation processes in different European Union Member States.

Each of the eight countries are invited to present their experiences in developing and implementing their national adaptation strategies, guided by the six dimensions. Through interactive sessions, policy makers from other countries are invited to actively participate in the discussion for their own country.

Therefore we invite representatives from different European countries working on the national adaption strategy and its implementation. The workshop offers the opportunity to present your experience and lessons learned from national processes and to discuss and identify possible solutions.

Further, certain demands and needs shall be addressed that could be identified during the presentations and discussions.

Looking forward to meeting you in Budapest!
