Poland
In the year 2004 “Poland’s national Climate Policy” strategies for greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction in Poland until 2020, has been accepted by the Polish Government.
The established strategy will be successively implemented and the effects are monitored every year by the GHG emission inventory. The Polish Government participates actively in the European Commission Program on Climate Change. Polish society is being informed on the problems of climate change. Since 2005 on the Ministry of the Environment website the bulletin on “Climate Change” is available with information from international journals in the field. It is also important to mention the participation of the Polish Government in the European campaign “You also can have an impact on climate change”. The Minister of the Environment initiated this campaign in the beginning of June in Poland.
Even though in Poland there is no National Research Programme on Climate Change yet, the Polish/International Scientific Network ‘Air Pollution/Climate Change’ AIRCLIM-NET is actively lobbying at the Ministry of Science and Higher Education to establish such a national research programme. The first step was taken last year, with the establishment of priorities for the National Research Framework Programme.
